Shameem practice is mainly in legal review, tax and aviation law. He is skilled in strategy development and resolution of commercial disputes in various stages with a particular emphasis on disputes governing taxation matters, contractual breaches, debt collection and employer-employee disputes.
Having previously served in the in the legal section of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), he acquired valuable knowledge and experience as to the application of tax laws through representation at the Tax Appeal Tribunal and appellate courts.
He continues to serve the public sector, at Island Aviation Services Limited (IAS) as ‘Company Secretary & In-House Legal Counsel’, advising the company’s management on best practices in corporate governance and compliance in relation to aviation laws enabling him to be well versed in advising businesses on legal requirements governing the aviation sector as well as corporate best practices.
Shameem is licensed to appear before the Supreme Court and is a licensed Public Notary in the Maldives. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Maldives National University, Maldives.
